Question: What partners will be part of the ongoing work of the school? Explain how partners will work together to design and plan the school, and how your partnership will support student learning, engagement, development, and connection to post-secondary success.
Idea Tree welcomes partnerships on three levels: deep, constant, and advisory. Deep partners, like KIGT and Airwolf3D, assist the school in planning the college and career opportunities available. Steadfastly, Idea Tree will tailor the curriculum to each student’s interest and passion. Deep partners will facilitate this reality, adding credibility to the context of learning and connecting instructors to new knowledge as well. In addition, this select group of local political and industry leaders will provide teacher externships, student internships, mentoring, tutoring, and feedback on student presentations and products.
Constant partners — students’ family members — play an integral role in the success of Idea Tree. They are consistently engaged through communication with the school, actively providing vital input and tutoring or mentoring. Students’ families connect the school to resources in the community as well, whether through industry-specific advising or by conveying and connecting local history and current reality to make learning relevant.
Advisory partners, like Chino Valley Medical Center, connect to the school less frequently, guiding the staff on current industry trends and providing performance data about students in the workforce. They are sought after for input on challenges and asked to provide feedback on student projects, judge competitions, and celebrate success. Many advisory partners sponsor work-based learning through job shadowing and internships, guiding students through a local and global real-world context.
Idea Tree has grown out of a strong desire to innovate teaching and learning, yet we are in the early stages of forging community connection in a region with a growing industry base. Our team finds inspiration from the resources our connections currently bring, and we dream of expanded partnerships to make learning more meaningful, relevant, and engaging for each individual child.
